Positions Announcement for Mechanical Engineering, Instrumental Science and Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University
XJTU is a key university which is directly administered by the Chinese Education Ministry and is one of the oldest current institutions of higher education in China. The predecessor of XJTU was Nanyang College, which was founded in 1896 in Shanghai and renamed Jiaotong University in 1921.Xi'an Jiaotong University, as one of the first universities entering the seventh and eighth five-plan, as well as China's "211 Project" and “985 Project”, is selected to be developed into a global first-class university.
Grabbing the opportunity of the rapid development of China food industry and meeting the high demand of well-educated talents in food safety areas, School of Food Equipment Engineering and Science has opened up two majors of “food processing equipment and process control” and “food quality safety detection technology and instrument” to cultivate innovative talents with interdisciplinary knowledge of equipment manufacturing, processing control, instrumental science and food science.

1. Major requirements
a.Food Processing Equipment and Process Control:A background in process equipment and control, mechanical engineering or related fields is required. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach the following classes: System design of process equipment control, Robot technology and application, Principle of automatic control, Microcomputer principle and interfacing technique, Food engineering and equipment.
b. Food Quality Safety Detection Technology and Instrument:A background in instrumental science and technology or related fields is required. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach the following classes: Optics, Modern instrument analysis, Intelligent instrument, Food analysis, Food processing technology.
2. PositionsandQualifications
The applicants shall qualify Teachers Law of the People's Republic of China and basic requirements of the University, and also the following:
1. Young Scholars of Distinction
a. The appointee will work full-time as professor;
b. The appointee is expected to be rigorous in academics, obey the law and has both ability and political integrity. A Ph.D. degree is required. The appointee is expected to be under 40 years old, with exception for the excellent to 45;
c. The appointee is expected to have achieved outstanding academic works and well recognized by the peers;
d. The appointee is expected to have broad academic perspectives, innovative thinking and the potential to be a leading talent in the field.
2. Professor
a.A Ph.D. degree is required. The appointee is expected to work full-time;
b. The appointee is expected to have achieved high level academic works and well recognized by the peers;
c. The appointee is expected to be under 45 years old.
3. Associate professor
a. A Ph.D. degree is required. The appointee is expected to work full-time;
b. The appointee is expected to have working experience after Ph.D. for two years or more and study or work experience abroad more than 12 months;
c. The appointee is expected to have achieved high level academic works and have the potential to be a leading talent in the field;
d. The appointee is expected to be under 35 years old.
4. Lecturer
a. A Ph.D. degree is required. The appointee is expected to work full-time;
b. The appointee is expected to have achieved some academic works and have the potential to be an academic backbone;
c. The appointee is expected to be under 32 years old.
3. Salary and Benefits
a.Young Scholars of Distinction
The “Young Scholars of Distinction” program of XJTU aims at gathering a group of young scholars with great academic potential who have already achieved some academic works. The University provides top class working environment, salary, policy support, including academic team, research platform, housing and schooling of children to help the appointee develop themselves to leading talents in the field.
1. The appointee will be staffed in government affiliated institutions. The contract system will be applied with 6 years to be maxium;
2. The annual salary system will be applied. The University provides competitive salary that matches the positions abroad. For special discipline and/or outstanding applicants, salary is negotiable;
3. The University provides resources and funding for scientific research;
4. The appointee will be granted qualifications as master and Ph.D. advisor;
5. Top schooling will be provided for the children of the appointee;

b. Associate professor and lecturer
